I met Molly in early 2018 during a show in the neighborhood of Uptown in Chicago. She was opening for the opener of a small concert. In the fall of the same year, I was hired to create the album artwork for Molly’s album, “The Color of Mustard.”
“The Color of Mustard” represents Molly’s current chapter of life, composed of songs about growing up, falling in love, and having your heart broken. In order to match the narrative style of the album, the photos used on the album are of Molly at different ages. We wanted to establish a feeling of nostalgia without getting too wrapped up in the 90’s. Touches of Molly’s personality were added, including having the lyrics on the vinyl insert be handwritten.
